Are the viewing figures ever published for Non British Football Matches? I can't believe that they would warrant the whole of Saturday night's ITV programmes being hijacked in this way.
Would the Italian or German viewing public really be interested in watching 2 British teams play?
Sorry but this is a bugbear of mine.

The Champions League Final has more viewers, throughout the world, than any other annual sports event:

The only football match which ever gets higher viewing figures is the World Cup Final.

Keep checking this link, throughout the next couple of weeks, until the relevant figures show up. The Final will almost certainly be near to the top of the table:

Incidentally you ask if football fans in other countries would be interested in watching two British teams play. I sometimes use a Portuguese café (in Thetford) where only Portuguese TV is shown. The football which dominates their coverage is not the domestic league in Portugal; it's our Premier League (which is shown live across Europe and has a massive following in the Far East).

Well said Chris, that`s why Park Ji-Sung always plays for Man Utd when it`s a live game, if it`s not live he`s on the bench
Chris, is that cafe in Thetford near the pub that got smashed up a few years ago when Portugal beat England?
Trt:
Yes it is, but most of the local Portuguese use the café I go in ('The Chocolate Mirror') as their pub anyway because (just like bars on the continent) there's no distinction between it being either a bar or a café. Families use the front part to eat their steaks or drink their coffees, while the 'pub regulars' congregate in the back part and drink their Sangres or Super Bock.
I know it well Chris, not to far away from me in Newmarket.
A person I know, her son was locked up for 2 years for fracas or similar that night.

Thanks for your answers chaps. You live and learn. I guess we are doomed to being made to put up with the "beautiful game", (yeah right), for the rest of the summer.
Cheers.
I agree with you chrissa, I'm dreading the World Cup! I'm not bothered whether England win or lose, good job I've got a nice collection of DVD's to watch.
