A friend of mine was getting married several years ago in exeter and we were all over for the wedding - including an ex boyfriend of hers and his wife. Lovely guy - we all got on great for the weekend and I even though that it was a pity my friend hadnt married her ex as I did not like her husband. Anyway this ex boyfriend of hers went on to murder his wife and their adopted daughter. Boy was I a bad judge of character there. Any similiar stories ?

manslaughterers ?
-- answer removed --
I know someone who stabbed someone 38 times. They survived though.

I also know someone who was done for manslaughter. He got into a fight....he's a lovely bloke.

I use to work in a psychiatric hospital so have met loads of murderers, rapists, paedophiles etc.
one of the contractors who was workign here a while back had a really nasty scar across his neck and i asked him what had happeded and app his wife tried to murder him by slashing him with a knife

a guy who come sin the pub has just finished as sentence of 7 years for fire bombing his ex's house whilst she and the baby (and other relatives) were inside - luckily they all got out without any harm

and i'm not even going to get started on my ex

i know some nice people...........
When I worked for the probation service in the 90's, I had a 'cleared' wife murderer working on a team doing up old peoples flats. He seemed an alright guy to me.
BTW, he was cleared on dodgy evidence from a forensic scientist...but the police never opened up the enquiry again.
I know someone who got 13 years for kidnap and torture.
One guy who used to play table tennis in our local league murdered a guy a couple of streets from where I used to live. My brother (policeman) told me that 3 of them, including a girl, had tied this bloke up, tortured him for a couple of days whilst they sold off all his possessions, killed him, dismembered the body and tried to set fire to it................He's probably out by now as this was about 18 years ago.
Yes.
A few years ago there was a murder in my village, there were a gang of local lads convicted of the crime,I knew most of them.

Here's the fellow I knew.....found this in the local press archives....

BODY-IN-THE-BATH killer Stephen Loft has been sent to Rampton - without anyone ever telling his victim's parents, the Evening Press can reveal today.

Loft was jailed for life in 1990 for slashing, burning, stabbing and suffocating William Birnie, before setting the body alight in a bath at Mr Birnie's home in Brunswick Street, South Bank, York. The court had been told Birnie was "tormented if not tortured" by Loft before his death.

Mr Birnie's parents believed Loft was still serving a life sentence in prison until the Evening Press discovered he was discharged from jail and sent to Rampton top-security psychiatric hospital more than three years ago.
This was the one I mentioned,it happened on my birthday:

"The group caught up to Mr Redfern and his brother Paul, 25, before the older man was punched to the ground.

Miss Wilcock told the court how Worden kicked and stamped on Mr Redfern's head as he lay face down on the ground.

Marshall was kicking him around the shoulders and sides of his body at the same time, she said.

She described how she had broken up the kicking and Worden's reaction to her intervention.

She said: "He was looking directly at me, there was anger in his eyes and his face was kind of twisted."
