lot of sweat glands under the arm......is it onion or garlic as that can really smell in your sweat.....
i think when it gets to the 'oniony' smell its when bacteria has built up through not washing.
fresh sweat doesnt not smell.
er loooby I feel sick now.....
Have you eaten a lot of onions? It can be diet related, or some medications can cause excess sweating.
I always think that smell is more like meat and potato pies from the bakers than onions - I met Eammon Holmes once he smelt of biscuit tins a lot of people have that smell I think it is clothes that need dry cleaning not being cleaned often enough - though the size of Eammon it was probably biscuits and my first instinct was right!
Biscuits???
Could be two issues here - one is secreting an odour through the sweat glands, usually caused by eating something with a strng odour like garlic.

The other is incorrect washing or infrequent washing of clothing, which will allow bacteria to build. As looby says, sweat does not smell, but the bacteria that breed is stale sweat do.

Have a discreet word about washing freqeuncies, temperatures, and so on, and the effects that wrong temperatures or gaps in washing can have on clothing.
