I'm feeling a bit romantic and nostalgic this evening and I was wondering whether anyone had any thoughts on this topic?

No, the movies show all the best bits and to have a movie worthy relationship all the time would be a bit weird, stuff like shopping, cleaning, and paying bills wouldn't get done without some sort of frolicking which would be silly. But, I do think that everlasting love with all the happy endings does exist but there are bound to be ups and downs at somepoint!
And the woman never has to lay on the wet bit!
urrghh! and the sheets have to be L shaped so they cover up to the womans chest but only up to the mans waist!
I'm sure it does.

For a few.
Experienced it myself. Went on for years, However the happily ever after bit is not automatic. People change and any relationship will need maintenance.

I have often thought about sequels that show what there romantics were like twenty years on but somehow I doubt people would want to see the movie.

"Frankly my dear I don't give a damn" would probably be more common than not.
i really couldn`t say,i`ve never felt the intensity of true love, lust yes love not sure.
Absolutely.... And tea cups break out in to song spontaniously and you can ride a magic carpet and have a small screechy monkey for a friend.... Oh, and sleep for a hundred years without ageing.
Yes it does....but you only find out when you've lost your OH - it's feels like you're half dead.
Hiya Mcvj,
I believe that love does exist as in the movies, mainly because most movies are based on real life experiences. I have just come out of a relationship where i compared every mushy thought and emotion to something i had heard in a song or seen in a film. Maybe im a romantic fool but thats the way it affected me and iv some wonderful memories to look back on. So the answer to your question is a definite yes!
Yes definitely! I've been married for 11 years to a wonderful man, he is all I've ever wanted and certainly all I need. However, I was previously married and we finally split up after many years and divorced. With that marriage I started to have doubts a few months before the wedding but because we had bought a house together and everything was arranged I went through with it thinking it was just nerves. Bad mistake, if there are any doubts at all, don't do it!
I've never, ever, wanted anyone other than my current husband since the day I started going out with him.
love doesnt exist.

Whitebears how can you say that? Do you mean romantic love or any kind of love? You may have been unlucky in love so far but that doesn't mean love itself does not exist. Have you never had children? If you have you will know that love at least. Have you never heard of people sacrificing themself to save their partner/child/parent/pet? Isn't that love?
madmaggot... children??? lol i dont think so.
I know what u mean madmaggot. Im a bit of a romantic and believe in true love. The girl ive just split up from was and always will be the love of my life. Ive never felt anything like i do for her but sadly its not to be and weve both moved on and as a consequence we are now the best of friends which is a great comfort to me. We still get together now n then as friends and can talk about anything.

Oh wow - cheers for the response guys!

I'm a total romantic too - I just love to think about being happy ever after but all the divorce statistics these days just makes me think that love is disposable for the majority of people. I suppose that the most important bit is finding the right one!

Thanks for lifting my mood xxxx
