can;t think of anything specific, but maybe something to do with reginald dixon who used to do a weekly radio broadcast from blacpool tower ?
Southern TV did a one off tv show called the end of the pier show back in 1980n starring Jack Douglas and Peggy Mount. I know because I had a part in it.

Oh wow Socket 2008. You must be famous! I did find that when searching but I am looking for a radio programme but thanks anyway.
There was a radio spin-off from Dad's Army called "It stacks out half a mile" about Wilson, Pike and Hodges buying the pier at Wamington-on-Sea. The series often crops up on BBC7

Gosh Tonymclarke - I've never heard of that one! Thanks.
I typed the title wrong above, it should be "It sticks out half a mile" not stacks.

Arthur Lowe was in the pilot episode, but didn't live long enough to take part in the series. I think the first episode was then remade.
