I have SKY with the multi room option. My upstairs box keeps saying 'THERE IS A TECHNICAL FAULT WITH THIS CHANNEL.PLEASE TRY LATER' or 'NO SATELLITE SIGNAL BEING RECEIVED'. I have spoken to SKY and they have been through the usual checks. They just seem to want me to pay an extra 10 odd a month to cover an extended service agreement or pay 60 for an engineer to come out. Does anybody have any ideas why this could be happening. I have switched the bos off and on again, checked the connections, all the usual stuff.

After your original 12 months contract has expired you own all of the equipment.Sky will only repair if you pay.Believe me it is well worth taking out the Sky repair plan,I have multiroom HD & recently had probs with 1 of the boxes,I had an engineer to visit 4 times & had 3 replacement boxes fitted before the fault was finally corrected, so I repeat, take out the repair plan.
Presuming that your downstairs digibox is working ok,try swapping the boxes round,(unplug the mains leads, telephone leads and the coax f-connectors) take the downstairs box upstairs, and the upstairs box downstairs, set them both back up again.
If the fault has moved downstairs then its that particular digibox that is faulty.
If the fault remains upstairs then it could be the coax wiring to the upstairs digibox.
Sky installers usually fit a twin LNB on the Sky Dish so everything on the Dish is shared by the 2 digiboxes,so with the downstairs digibox working ok everything on the Dish sounds ok.
Hope this helps.
