Can anyone tell me how Trevor Eve's character in last night's Lawless drama, discovered that Orla Brady's character was a dodgy copper?

She shot him to try and kill him. The viwer had recently found out she was dodgy, as the Internal affairs (or whatever) investigator realised she was the only one who could have tampered with the forensic logs. BUT he didn't really ask her why / what had happened/ whatever. I only saw the last half hour last night, so if anyone can supply details of the rest of the episode, that would help! e.g. Why did Phil kill himself?
There were a lot of holes in the plot.
A lot of holes indeed - another one I wished I hadn't bothered watching. Why did Phil kill himself - was he bent as well or just guilt from killing Kinney? So it was Liz that killed the David Calder character in the car was it? And Trevor Eve was innocent, so why did he feel he had to walk off into the sunset? Cobblers.
The ending was kind of like the writer had had enough, and just stopped. I wondered if they were hoping Trevor Eve's character could have his own series - on the run - like a crap Fugitive(!) He seemed miffed that the investigator man thought he would have killed Liz (even though he was obviously tempted). It's annoying when you spend hours watching something that they don't bother to tie up the loose ends.
Glad it's not just me then - i like Trevor Eve, but felt that this was a bit of a let down.  Lots of loose ends at the end, and i don't understand why he had to go off into the sunset at thre end either.
