Dear Clement Freud was my favourite "celebrity". He was very funny and sweet.
When they announced that he'd died on the news, they didn't announce it with the dignity he deserved, and brushed over it as if he wasn't somebody. And if anybody was SOMEBODY... HE WAS!
RIP

Is he the guy that looks like a bloodhound?
Question Author
Yes. Years ago he did an advert for dog food with a bloodhound that looked just like him ;-).
Recently he has been mostly on the radio, and he was hilarious.
He`d the most boring voice I have ever heard, which made him whom he was. RIP & Bless.
Oh that is so sad, I thought he was lovely.
I loved his voice though, I found it very soothing. RIP.
Question Author
He did cultivate a monotonous voice for effect.
He was so interesting to listen to; witty and sweet.
I would have loved to have met him.
was he the person on just a minture who was really slow but noone ever buzzed him for pausing?
Did he, well I never knew that! Yes would have been fascinating to meet him.
Question Author
Yes nix, he was. I don't think people liked buzzing him cos they wanted to hear what he had to say. I didn't like people buzzing him cos I could've listened to him all day.
BBC News this evening paid him homage, and I expect more will follow suit later.
Question Author
That's nice.
I hadn't realised he'd popped his clogs - shame - he was a very amusing gentleman...
Question Author
He was going to have his birthday party next week. He wrote in his invitations that they had better check the obituary columns first just in case, bless him.
