A book I read a long time ago said that Mozart, Beethoven & Co are still composing wonderful music in the afterlife, clearly dispelling the myth that everyone ends up sitting on a cloud playing the harp - but I have to admit I didn't bother reading the follow up. :o)
Question Author
what book is that
-- answer removed --
You can do some busking outside the pearly gates
Thnk you mis-read it, naomi.............

Surely it said Mozart and Beethoven are still decomposing......?

I'll get me coat..............:o(
Yes, Hatless, it's supposed to be W S Gilbert who, when asked by an old lady whether dear old Beethoven was still composing, said "I think, madam, he is more in the nature of decomposing."

Alas, colrox, 'quite a good pop guitar player' shows you to be guilty of the Deadly Sin of Pride, which means that your guitar will be consumed in the flames that you will have to bear for eternity.
Perhaps you could correct it to 'pretty poor guitar player' before God notices. I hear that he never reads AB until after his first gin at noon.
Sorry, colrox, I can't remember what it was called. It wasn't something I wanted to keep.

Come back Jack!!!! :o)
Assuming you are not being sarcastic, colrox, then the answer to your question is yes. Ignore the cynicism of the likes of chakka. Musical talent is a gift which is part of your soul.
I agree that music is part of your soul, but I prefer to say that one's ability to produce it is a natural talent rather than a 'gift'. That presupposes it comes from elsewhere.

i seem to remember some woman pianist many yrs ago playing music she claimed had been dictated to her from beyond the grave by mozart--anyone else remember this--cheers
Is this her?

Franz Liszt apparently told her that he would make her a famous musician one day. What a fibber!
yes naomi--that is who i was thinking of--cheers
Gosh, I've been called some things in my time but cynical is a new one.

Assuming that colrox's question was posed tongue-in-cheek I replied in similar vein. But JackSporran sounds ominously serious. Can he possibly be? Surely not.
You cynical Chakka? The very idea! ;o)
I would have thought you might quite like the idea of being associated with the The Cynics of ancient greece, chakka.
