what chinese tv series that was on uk cable 15 years ago?

am after this series which was on the uk cable chinese channel about 15 years ago!!
first of all its set in the past, then in present. what happens is that this guy travels to the future with his 3 wifes in this weird time machine, but when hes in the future he loses his wifes and tries to find them, all that i can rememeber is that its a comedy, and when the actor travels to the future he falls into a acting studio where the scene is the past and thinks that hes not travelled. i dont know the actors name otherwise i wont be posting this message,but he has been in some recent series, i think hes in the atv company. can some body help would love to watch again, i bit like a step in the past but funnier!!
