Im a quiet person and have a quiet, soft voice, It is soooo annoying every time when im having a convo with a colleague, another colleague butts in with (loud colleague) and takes over the convo even though its got nothing to do with them?...also changes the convo completely. when i try to participate in a convo ... no one ever hears me cos the big mouth does all the talking.....=-(

i might aswell not speak! i dont like raising my voice ...

white bear you need confidence therapy!!
that's just rude. you should get the big mouth's attention and say, "actually I was just speaking!"

you don't have to be loud to get some respect, but you have to say what needs saying!

puddi confident thearpy? hmm... ..

sara... sometimes i just wait until the loud mouth :P finish what he wants to say..... then i would say

'Anyway........ as i was saying 10yrs ago.........'

other times...i just cant be bothered, switch off from the convo and do somework (which we should be doing anyway,) or just go to the lou. lol
When this happens, you need to stop talking at once, exaggeratedly at once.

In a particular meeting I regularly attend there are a few people who start up private conversations, such that sometimes there are 3-4 going on. If I have the floor at the time, I stop speaking immediately a private conversation starts and stare at the culprits, which highlights the ill-mannered whispering going on.
This is the fault of the person you are talking to, they should not avert their attention from you. Have you noticed how most people when they are talking to other people are so rude as to instantly break away at the slightest distraction. This happens whether you are quiet or not.
Makes my blood boil. Don't get me started on the whole phone ringing thing!
This happens to me quite often in my present job. I just ignore both of the other parties. I'm usually not interested in what they have to say anyway as it is usually of little consequence.
Don`t be intimidated by ignorant loudmouths, as they just like to hear their own voice. If you can, ignore what they are saying and just carry on saying what you were saying----I will bet you that he/she will stop when he/she realises how rude they are and possibly apologise to you for interrupting.
I Know Exactly What You Mean! I Am Pretty Quiet And I Am Constantly Surrounded By (Extreamly) Loud People And It Gets So Frustrating. Whenever Someone Butt's Into A Convo Im Having, I Just Keep Talking, Y'know Get The Message Across That Im Having A Convo With This Person, But I Always Get Drowned Out. So Wait Until They Take A Breath Or Something A Pause, Then Just Go 'Anyway...' And Continue. Thats What I Do Sometimes. Or Just Find A New Person To Talk To. But I Know, Its Frustrating!!
Happens to me all the time, I am so quiet folk say they dont even hear me sometimes, if someone talks over me I clam up and wont continue cos I feel so small
i thought u wer quite confident when i met you. what happened?
