Watched this for the first time last night, am I alone in thinking "what a load of tosh"?

The team were down in the cellars of some disbanded asylum in North Wales, apparently accompanied by 6 witches.

Nothing was seen, nothing was move yet we are to believe Yvette et al, there have been some heaving breathing, screams, groans, whatever else. How convenient all of these can not be seen.

The funniest part when was a member of the team (I don't know his name) was 'taken over' by one of the witches and the team was told where to go in the most impolite manner! This raises further questions in my mind about the authenticity of it because this asylum was in use in the 1800's in WALES.........why weren't the 'witches' talking in Welsh? Were such words (f*** off, for example) even around back then?

I know this show has been running for a few years, are Living TV honestly making a fortune through the power of suggestion??

I would love for a fan of the show to try and convince me otherwise.

LOL,

No your not alone in thinking it, I attempted to watch a couple of them as everyone keeps raving about it and also thought it was total rubbish!

so much as I would love to convince you it's great and to stick with it... I'm with you on this one, not worth the time!!!
i do enjoy watching most haunted just for fun, every so often you will get an episode where you think, oh christ it could happen but last night was a shambles. the old medium guy was obvisouly moving the glass on the board, he never took his finger off and his finger was pressed on the glass too hard! fake!
i was thinking about the welsh language thing, i think he was having us on!

They were all freaking out at the tiniest noise. Anyone can hear a noise if they listen hard enough and also they were in a building that's falling apart, there are exposed areas where ceiling and / or wall has fallen down, of course they're going to hear stuff.

You ought to have seen this guy being 'posessed' it was hilarious.
Question Author
Ha! I thought that about the oujii board too. Notice the glass was going round in big circles when they ALL had their finger on it, but when only the 1 had a finger on it, it was going round in circles as long as his own arm could reach.
i saw him 'posessed' at one point when they were doing the board, he just said "go away and stop getting involved in our plans!" then he just shook it off slightly, was really funny
they seem to have a sort of chain reaction when they hear a noise, one person thinks they hear a tiny noise and screams which sets the next person off screaming at the scream.

it can be worth watching but for all the wrong reasons!
Question Author
Yes lumination, that was funny, and then when they were moving further down the corridor he was 'posessed' again, and his legs were giving way etc. and he was putting on the Welsh accent hehe!

Also, there were HEAPS of advert breaks, around 10 minutes apart....setting up for their next installment of reeling in the public perhaps?

Also, why were there even witches there? Surely it would have been more plausable for them to reach the lunatics?

Exactly Chuck. I remember watching a movie a couple of years ago called Dead End. A family was travelling to relativies for Christmas and they ended up on a never ending road, each time they stopped something happened and one of them died. The viewer saw NOTHING at all, but the characters were seeing people at the side of the road. I was petrified, I went to sleep with my lights on that night and I know it was because it was because I was scared of what I wasn't seeing......the power of suggestion.
i agree with the adverts there was ALOT. all to set up the next stunt. and with the witches i was confused, the lunatics would have been more stronger than the witches, i mean what in the world were they doing there?!
the thing with these investigations is that there is the anticipation that something could happen and as such the slightest noise can stike fear through most people.

I dont watch MH live and take the recorded episodes with a large pinch of salt. Derek was sacked because he was found to be faking so its hard to believe any of it.

I do believe in ghosts etc but unless people see things for themselves first hand then cynics will never be convinced.

I would also question why the witches werent taking their own languageof welsh lol
Question Author
Glad I'm not the only one to think there was a lot of advert breaks!

I believe in ghosts too, but that show just made me laugh.

I read a book a while back about Matilda De Braose, Lady of Hay and the author was telling the reader that back then the Welsh language is very different to what it is today. I assume the 'witches' would have spoken old Welsh.

I think I should be a producer on the show to help give it a little more authenticity LOL.
I'll have a word with my contacts and see if I can get you the job :)

It's a shame because as a program idea it has great potential but it is poorly executed and so obviously fake and over the top that it turns into a farce and just becomes comical.

if there was a show on TV that actually took the subject seriously and didn't blatantly over play every aspect of it for effect then I would watch that for sure!

Ghost Whisperer is pretty good :o)
chuck, contacts? do you mean spritual guides?? lol
Because ghosts dont have boundaries of language. They are spiritual and powerful and can use any way of telling someone to get lost and leave them alone.

And quite right of them too - All the ghosties just hide from the weirdo wannabee-celebs with their cameras.

The real action happens when you are not sitting there expectantly, and with a live programme and audience to entertain.

(I cant wait to see the replies to this...haha)
Question Author
You believe these witches are with Yvette and Co this evening, Miss Ladybug?

I'll take your point about the language barrier explanation. I'm a believer of ghosts as it happens, and I've seen 2 in my life, but this show is bordering on comedy :o)
"The show is borderline comedy"
Now that i agree with.

Yvette always seems to feel things in her hair. I suggest she gets checked for head lice.

Things dont work when you do it for money, fame and to entertain (as in the case of Most Haunted). Because something wont happen in every episode, they need to fake things to make it better.

I dislike Most Haunted because it's going to make people think everything to do with spirits etc is a big fake.
my favourite part is when the crew er I mean ghosts start throwing pebbles across the floor
Question Author
LMAO!! You're getting stars for the checking for nits comment! A proper LOL moment for me there.

Yeah Cazz, last night (I couldn't resist watching) you heard whispers, I'm pretty sure it was the crew....

Incidentally, I did a bit of tinternet research on it yesterday and apparently Ofcom did their own investigation on the show and the MH producers (Yvette and Karl!) said:

"Most Haunted is an entertainment show, not a legitimate investigation into the paranormal, and should not be taken seriously."
