To me she looks about 40, whereas love interest Carl looks about 27. So why does her father think she and Carl would make a perfect match, she's almost old enough to be his mother.

Well, Carl King is 32, and Anna De Souza's age hasn't been announced yet, but she's divorced so chances are she is about the same age as who plays her at least, around 38.

So my guess is that there is only around six years between them.
