opinion on garage quote please

I have just had a quote from a garage to replace oil cooler and flush out radiator on a vauxhall omega est. automactic of 1287 pound plus vat is this the going rate for the work to be done thanks GypsyX

i couldnt tell you if thats fair or not, but whilst waiting for replies why dont you call a few other garages in the area and see what their quotes are. Thisll give you an idea.
Just ask for a breakdown of what the labour charges are.

In a competive market these days, anything over �45 per hour is steep if you shop around.

If it's a V6 as i'm guessing it is it's quite a big job cos the oil cooler is in the engine V under the inlet manifolds etc, my advice would be make sure the garage have done one before or they may not replace the oil cooler with the modified part and the associated seals etc.
The last one I did was a 2.6 and i think it cost around �1100 + vat
