What was the title of an industrial landscape history programme say late 70's or early 80's. The presenter would visit old towns that could have been in decay and talk about the designs and how it was deteriorating etc.
I recall he wore a long white coat, grey hair and would get very emotional at the decaying buildings etc.

Cannot remember his name but I think the programme invcluded his name in title.

Not sure if BBC or ITV?

Was it anything to do with Fred Dibnah?

sounds like the sort of thing he would have done. No longer with us sadly.
This was the late great WG Hoskins, see wikipedia which offers:
"Hoskins wrote and presented a BBC television series The Landscape of England in 1976. Derived from The Making of the English Landscape, the series attracted attention from members of the environmental movement, who cited it to support their arguments for conservation."
