Does anybody know whether Bill Maynard (comedy actor who played Claude Greengrass in Heartbeat) is related to Pat Maynard, first wife of Dennis Waterman?

I seem to remember that Bill Maynard took umbrage when Dennis Waterman started messing about with Rula Lenska whilst married to Pat Maynard. I always assumed she was Bill's daughter, but Bill was born in 1928 and Pat in 1942, so she cannot be. But I'm sure I recall reading of Bill's threats to "fill in" Waterman.

Any ideas, anybody?

Patricia Maynard was born Maynard, Bill Maynard was born Williams.

I don't think they are related at all - I can find nothing to say they are.

Thanks both.

I had looked up the details on IMDB. I knew that Bill's birthname was not Maynard and this seems to rule out Pat being a neice or some other relative.

One of life's mysteries because both Mrs Judge and I recall the article explaining Bill's displeasure at Pat being "messed about".

Thanks again.
Bill Maynard is a nasty chap - which is why he was sacked from Heartbeat. His colleagues refused to continue working with him.

He worked a lot with Dennis Waterman around the time of the marriage and Pat was involved with Minder too, so they were probably friends.

Ethal... How do you know that Bill Maynard is a "nasty chap"? That seems to be a sweeping statement, unless you know him personally and have worked with him.
