Hi, Ive started to read the Telegraph as there was a run on offers for some childrens books I wanted.
Although it seems to be a good read I think its seems to be in favour of Gordon Brown.
Can any one tell me what party the other newspapers support?

Telegraph - Left wing Labour
Mirror - Labour
Sun - Tory
Mail - Tory
I'm not sure if there is an official list but you get a good idea simply by the angle a paper takes in its articles, or editorial comments. The owner of a paper also has a strong influence on its political leanings.
Others may disagree, but based on my own experience I'd guess the following:
Conservative: Daily Express, Telegraph, Sun, Star, Times
Conservative\UKIP: Daily Mail
Labour: Daily Mirror, Guardian
Lib Dem: Independent

So what swings the newspaper to their political direction. Is it back handers or political polls to get or maintain its readership ?

As I said previously I think the biggest influence is the newspaper's owner. They will push the party that most closely matches their own political views or personal agenda - rarely do they reflect the views of your average man/woman in the street.
IMO most of the daily and Sunday papers in the UK are right-wing and eurosceptic.
BTW ash318, how can you say the Telegraph is 'left wing labour'? Everyone I know that reads it calls it the Torygraph!
MIrror---New Labour
Morning Star----Old Labour
Star-----New Tory
Sun----New Tory
Telegraph----Traditional Tory
The Times----Traditional Tory
Financial Times-----Traditional Tory
Daily Mail----Liberal Tory
Independant-----Lib Dem, occasionally Old Labour
Guardian-----Lib Dem, sometimes Green Party.
all 'red top' newspapers are Labour- the Sun, Daily mirror etc,
conservative- the times, telegraph
lib dem- independent

it's quite easy to figure out which newspaper supports which party, just look at the politics articles and if they 'slag off' a party but support a party's views it will be more likely they're in support of that party.

( i know as i did research for my journalism degree project!)
