I believe there was a recent story in the press about Bargain Hunt being a fix, a con.

Does anybody know anything about it?

Many thanks for that.

Not a great surprise after all. :)
I have only seen a few seconds of this show - just cannot stand Dickinson, nor the format.

However, it is obviously all arranged beforehand so if that is what the gullible viewing public wnat to see then let them carry on.
`Flog it` was accused of something similar last week

Dickinson hasn't hosted Bargain Hunt for some years now. :)
I have long thought the whole thing was a con anyway, apart from the stupidity of the whole thing.

I always thought the point of antiques dealing was to buy stuff cheap at auction and then sell it round the fairs at inflated prices, not the other way round as these twits seem to do.

Of course it is 'fixed', if 'fixed' is the right word. It is an light hearted show and doesn't pretend to be anything else. All these daytime type shows, along with Wife Swap, Holiday Show Down, and the countless property development programmes etc, etc. are 'fixed' to give the best entertainment value.
BEEN ON IT!!!!! I was on it last year and it is not a fix!!!!!

Who said that??

The only bad thing was that I had the big fat miserable one that wears a rupert scarf round his neck, which I would have been happy to pull tight at both ends to be honest . But it is not a fix. How do you make that out??
Having read the article, I have several things to add here.

You are told quite clearly, in fact the viewers are told "you have half and hour" to get the goods, its no secret!

We were met early in the morning by Tim W, who was the nicest person ever. He arrived before anyone else on the team, bright and breazy. He introduced himself to me and my friend, we had a cup of tea, fantastic!!

Our oponents had a new girl and we had the chubby miserably one with the red cheaks, can't remember his name now but he was miserable and told us "if you think you're going to get a bargain, forget it" I did winge about him to the production crew and that was that but apart from that, we could say what we wanted, maybe because we were a bit more in touch than the old couple giving the interview. We could add lib, whatever!! I chose the best item, not the fat one, my pal chose the other one and he chose the one in the middle, nothing odd about that. Yes the production crew have to whip it all off afte the show, of course they do!! They film two shows in one day so there are two teams of four and it was brilliant, so its all lies!!! lies lies!
Best thing to do is go for it yourselves and see.
