Jimmy's accent

Is it me or has Jimmy from Emmerdale suddenly lost his northern accent? Several times tonight he has lapsed into that sort of home counties soft twang rather than the reet owl Yarkshire drawl.

Not sure where hes from originally but he went to the private school where I work in Worcestershire.
