Its got to be a war film like Saving Private Ryan or Full Metal Jacket or something like Star Wars, Luke got through a few storm troopers AND old Vadar and that general bloke distroyed a whole planet! Maybe Terminator 2/3 or Independance day millions of people died in them although you didnt see it close up. Dr Shipmans home movies???
It was Die Hard 2 at one stage but not sure about now :(
Deore, the question asks for the most "on screen" deaths, so your argument for Independance or T2 doesn't hold true as you hardly see any actually "die". "Kill Bill: Volume One" is a high contender for the most on screen deaths for a very recent film, but there are really far to many films out there with high body counts for me to figure out which one is the highest.

Hot Shots: Part Deux, of course.

thanks all. see I was thinking it may be war film or lord of the rings or something, cos loads of orcs & stuff die in that.
The battle scenes from the 2nd or 3rd Lord Of The Rings movies.
Total Recall had a load. I remember the PC brigade having a field day at the time.
I thought that the film "From Dusk To Dawn" could be a contender.
I read somewhere that it was actually 'Commando' with Arnold Schwarzenegger
