my cat caught his tail in the door

My cat has caught the tip of his tail in a door and it has not broken but it does appear to have skinned the last half inch as the fur was on the floor in one piece and the end of the tail was like bone but there was only a little blood.
He seems fine at the moment but is it worth taking him to the vets just in case.

I think I probably would in case the wound got infected, there maybe some lotion the vet could give you?
About the same thing happened to our small Persian (stupid cat, can't even keep its tail out of the door) (ours, not yours)... Broke it pretty badly, but vet said to keep an eye on it. It became infected and the vet had to take off about two inches. That was a number of years ago, Tail is OK, cat's still not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but Mrs. C. likes her, so, end of story! Best of luck!
