Ok - tonight's episode - Jack's Chinese tattoo read something like "I walk among you but I'm not one of you", and he said that it's something like that but not quite. And the girl that tattooed him said she could see people as they really are...And that line about Chinese translation not being exact -could it be that it actually reads "I walk among you but I'm one of the others"????????
Is he controlling everything? Whoooooah????

I took it to mean that she was seeing ahead like Desmond, and it referred only to his place amongst The Others...We all start guessing madly Whickerman, and suspecting everything lol !!..Btw..is the episode on rte tomorrow night the next one,or the same as Sky tonight?
he said "thats what it says but not what it means"
I dont get it! Seen every episode so far and still dont get it!

Great show though. Still so much left unanswered though from last nights episode alone....

What does the rest of Jack's tattoo's mean? If anything.
Why did he get a beating on the beach?
Why was his tattoo is chinese and not thai? Is that important?
Why were all the others people watching him in the cage?
(those 2 kids were the ones who Anna Lucia looked after on the beech wern't they?)

Question Author
Yes they were

The RTE show is the same one btw
Please help - this is the only episode I didn't get! My fiance didn't get it either! What happened at the end with the boats? Where is he going? Why did he get beat up on the beach? What does his tattoos mean? Can someone please explain this to me?

Thanking you so much!
Sorry Leight0n, I should've read your post first. I'm with you. I don't get it. Also, why did Juliette have that burn thing on her back? Thanks
Juliet was "marked" i.e. branded as punishment for killing Danny.
ahhh, right. Thanks Linda. Can anyone answer my other questions puuurrrlease??
Jack was on the boat with Juliette and Ben,cos Ben was going "home",which is on another part of the original island. It looks like that's what he meant by telling Jack and Juliette that he would let them go home..he tricked them! Remember,Juliette said to Jack, about the other island,"Ben calls it home"..Hope you understand what I'm saying here Joey!
What happened at the end with the boats? Where is he going?

Ben said because Sawyer and Kate know where Jack is/was (on the Hydra Island), he is to be moved to where Ben calls 'Home', ie 'Othersville' where we saw Ben and Juliet watching the plane break up in the sky in the first episode of season 3. I guess cus Jack also has to 'care' for Ben.

Why did he get beat up on the beach?

The woman who did it said because he was 'an outsider'/an American, there would be consequences. I guess he got beat up because it is a sacred/protected art or something against their heritage. Otherwise maybe its more a supernatural thing, where he is now branded and his true meaning is to be seen/proven on the island.

What does his tattoos mean? Can someone please explain this to me?

This isnt going to be easy to predict. Obviously its translation has significance, since it connotes a kind of 'is he an other candidate walking amoung the survivors' or was he destined to confront the Others? maybe even lead them? But then I had an idea that the translation is something he doesnt like, as in you know how when Locke was saying Jack is a man of science and he a man of faith and JAck said he didnt believe in fate or destiny and Locke said 'You do, you just don't know it yet'..... maybe this is where JAck starts to believe, that things written down are not neccessarily etched in stone, and he starts to control his own destiny?

Lovin the series though.
Great answer Trojon!..I just love all the intrigue about Lost, and, the fact you have to constantly remember what has happened and been said before!
Thank you so much guys. That makes things a lot clearer. I will go home tonight and explain it to the other half. I will let him think I've worked it out for myself though! LOL. Really, thanks a lot.
Thats what I actually love about it Linda....

I mean I study film and media, and I have a genuine interest and passion for films/shows like Lost that have finally answered all my prayers for something so different to come along, and you are right, it can also be a curse as well as a blessing.

I think the creators and network really screwed up with this whole 'lets try a new marketing stratedgy where we show 7 episodes then take a break', their audience has really fragmented. A lot of viewers and fans of Lost have gone also because its now on sky, or they find it too hard to follow compared to the crap thats churned out of ITV or BBC. Lost is not just entertaining, its challanging.

Unfortunatley, the average Lost viewer probably wont ever comprehend the depth of what the show is really about.

When people ask what I mean by this, I just mean there is so much mythology and connections to figure out.... like the Apollo candy bars....whatever their significance is, the name is rooted in the Greek god Apollo....and some of the many aspects that are associated with Apollo are a bo and arrow and a staff, two of the hatches on the island (The Arrow, The Staff).....or remember in the episode LOCKDOWN?, well when the black light came on with the latin translations of the ? map that Locke saw and tried to remember, there are various latin translations, one of which says 'POSSIBLE SITE OF CEREBUS INCIDENT' or something like that...Cerebus is some kind of 3 headed dog that guard the underworld, and apparantly the smoke monster has 3 heads if you freeze frame it when it kills Mr Eko (rip lol). This leads me to believe maybe the incident IS the monster, guarding whatever it is...

Although these things don't sound too significant, until the last episode we will never know.
Fascinating!

A great site to look at is

www.lostpedia.com

Although, i'm sure some of my fellow fanatics have already got this site bookmarked!

A great bit on the site is the Mysterious Happens page (or something like that) it lists all of the events that have happened that have not been explained yet. (Like the map on the back of the blast door, the monster, Adam & Eve etc and it goes in to a lot of details about each bit. You could look through that site for hours and still not read everything!

I just hope that when the program finishes for good, all these little bits are explained, otherwise I live the rest of my life with it all in the back of my mind!!!
There is also the missing body of Jack's father Christian Shepard from the coffin. Your right the Lospedia mystery page is good.

The thing about answering all the questions and mysteries, I REALLY dont know how they are going to do it, I mean they let all these different writers go off and show their own talent and shake the show up, but to have an ending thats going to explain everything, what happens to the survivors? do they all get to go home? stay on the island? do we see what happens to them if they make it off?

I have got a bad feeling that they wont be able to produce an ending that satisifes everything they have set up.

I've read they had a beginning written, and an ending, but everything in between was left open depending on teh show's popularity.

My big questions come from the first episodes - where did the polar bears come from, where was the power cable that led Said to the french woman plugged in, and what caused all the trees to crash down on their first night there? Not to mention what actually caused the plane crash...!
Whickerman, in answer to some of your questions....

I think the Polar bears came from the Hydra facility. (The cage that Sawyer was held captive in was a cage for bears)

I'm pretty sure that the plane crashed because of the electromagnetic charge (or what ever it was called) being emmitted from the original hatch. There was an episode with Locke and Desmond going through all the log sheets of when the numbers were punched in corretly and Desmond worked out that on the occasion he failed to put the numbers in in the given time, the magnetic charge built up and that casued the plane to crash. I think he said to Locke "I think I caused your plane to crash". He probably said the word "brother" at the end of it.

The other two things, the trees and the cable, I don't know. And Trojon, I have wondered that about Jack's dad's coffin and his missing body, very strange.

I couldn't help my self so I looked to see what is coming in the next two episodes! Looks really good!!!!
Yeah the polar bears, see the cages were at the Hydra but how the hell did they get over to the other island? its 2 miles off shore and but I thought I saw a documentary saying Polar Bears cant swim that far, but maybe thats rubbish and Im not remembering correctly, still a bit odd.

With the plane coming down....

A - Everything points to it being Desmond not pressing the button, and an EMP would bring down a plane.....BUT

B - ..... there is ONE aspect not listed in all the unsolved mysteries which I think is THE mystery, out of all the people, all the times and all the places...a group of people who have already had interchanging cross sections in their lives (boone & sawyer, Charlie and Des, JAck and Des, Ana Lucia and Christian) all of those people ended up on a plane together and were brought to the island for a reason (I think Locke is right in this, as he has said, 'each one of us were brought here for a reason). I think thats a big mystery in itself, that all these people ended up in the same place at the same time....Which....

C - ....leads me onto a new theory, maybe the whole event of these people being brought together are part of this COURSE CORRECTION aspect that was mentioned in FLASHES BEFORE YOUR EYES, maybe the collection and arrival of the survivors is because THE INCIDENT that happened with Dharma (as seen on the orientation video) caused the space time continum to rupture or something and a way of course correction was having all these people arrive at the island which seems to have some relevence to the world as a whole.

The cable...I dunno, at first I thought it maybe their link to a power/source or the outside world? but since it has not been mentioned since maybe its just a way for the French woman to intice intruders or strangers to her lair?

The falling of the trees is a condition of the Monster, it can uproot them or it does as it emerges from the ground. The trees only fell when the monster was on the scene and remember it tried to drag Locke underground in Exodus the ending of the first season.

Maybe if you die in the real world, you are dead, same as if you die on the island you are dead. But what if you die in the real world and land on an island that can cure cancer (rose), infidelity (Jin), and immobility (Locke)...maybe your brought back to life?
polar bears are great swimmers apparently.
