I'm reading "Treasure Island" by R.L.Stevenson and in Chapter III "the captain" says "I'll shake out another reef, matey, and daddle 'em again." What does daddle mean?

I searched the verb "to daddle" but I could not find an apropriate meaning.

You can find the context in the electronic version of the book on www.gutenberg.org.

Daddle: To fool, delude. Source-http://www.kellscraft.com/treasureislandnotes. html ...

'Daddle' is just a dialect variation of the much more common 'diddle', which - as C points out above - means to delude or deceive.
