GI diet and sit ups, kickboxing and pole dancing
Question Author
cool thanks for that - dont really get the gi diet

is there a gi diet for dummys book?
Here is quite a good GI webpage:

http://www.glycemicindex.com/
Check out Pavel Tsatsoulines books on the matter, 'Bullet proof abs' is pretty good. If you follow his intruction the worst that can happen is a stomach like a sheet of iron, though you my not be able to see it (the best would be a stomach like his).
Sit ups don't always cut the mustard as a lot of work is done by your legs.
Modern Atkins is very similar to GI with maybe better initial weight loss then things even out. Either way eating lots of complex carbs and unprocessed food is tops.
There is no easy answer here. Firstly there is no such thing as spot reducing. If a person is overweight, the fat will be in different areas according to the individual, calfs, thighs, stomach etc. So diet is the number 1 for fat reduction. Strengthening the stomach muscles will help however by giving you a firmer line. I cant set a routine because it has to fit your capabilities so lay on your back hands behind your head and your feet held by someone or under some furniture see how many times you can comfortably sit up. If you cant do any then help yourself by throwing your hands forward and work your way up to sets of 12 of which you do 4 of them. When they get easy then the hands go behind the head and eventually you can try without your feet being held. But the main thing is you keep within your capabilities, no straining.good luck.ex-trainer

Hiya, Sorry, I am retired and no longer live in the UK. In any case it depends on what your aims are and where you live.
Your local papers will list various exercise courses going on.
Try Yoga for beginners, excellent for breathing and stretching muscles and unlikely, with a good teacher, to cause any muscle/tendon damage. If you are interested in teaching in schools then you would look for a Physical Education College on the net that suits you and this would probably be a 3 year course anyway. Anyway join something as it is easier to keep up the exercises with others.good luck
