I've just heard the above bit of music on BBC Six Music Radio, but I remember it as a theme tune for a 1980s TV show. Anyone know which one?

Also, was it ever out as a 7" single?

The 'outro' section was the theme to 'Weekend World' the political news programme - presented by Peter Jay and then Brian Walden, I think. It's certainly been out on a single at least once.
