In the late 1960's there was a French dubbed TV programme shown in the UK called the desert crusader. It featured a crusader and his arabic companion. Some people seem to remember it but I can't find any more informationthan this. Please help if you can as this has driven me nuts for YEARS.

I asked about this a while back but nobody could even give me the title of it - so thanks for that. I thought I was the only person who watched it on Saturday mornings along with Casey Jones & Champion the Wonder Horse!

Okay, it appears that the original French title may have been Thibaud the Crusader but the only references I can find are about a French TV movie of that name from 1968.
I could have sworn that it actually had "sword" in the title somewhere, but all the sources I found confirmed the "Desert Crusader" title (at least in the UK). I'm SURE I've seen a reference to it with a different (UK) title recently, though. Anyway, try here: http://us.imdb.com/Title?0168387 ; here: http://tv.cream.org/arkd.htm and novelist Elizabeth Chadwick seems to mention the show in a few interviews as an inspiration. BTW, I can remember watching the show (along with "The Aeronauts") and being impressed.

Thanks to everybody for the replies. The IMDB link posted by LeMarchand was very useful as it gives cast credits and other useful information, like there were 26 X 30 min episodes for instance. If I find out anything significant, I'll post back here on the AB. BTW the French titles were Thibaud des croisades and Thibaud ou les croisades. I also remember Champion the wonder horse and Casey Jones (Based on a real character, search on google). Before Casey Jones on a Saturday, I used to watch Ali Bongo's Magic Circus. Ahhhh memories.

I can't quite believe this, but after all of these years, I've found an MP of the desert crusader theme tune called "thibaud or crusades" on this link. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&

Hello!

I recently posted a request to find the title of my favourite programme. That man in white was a real dish wasn't he.

If this is the one you mean:
