Does the game translate well to the big screen?

I think so. It's certainly fast action and Angelina Jolie is superb as the pneumatic Lara Croft. Some of the stunts are pretty breathtaking and you get just as involved on screen as playing. Definitely a hit.

It should have but sadly the film is a bit of a mess and lacking in thrills. Angelina Jolie is very good tho.
