I heard a rumour on Radio 1 a few weeks ago that this was going to happen, is there any truth in it?

It would be good if it did happen! There's an entry for a new QL TV film on imdb.com, although it doesn't seem to be genuine. There was an interview with Scott Bakula on the BBC website recently where he said there were no plans - you can read his comments here:

I predicted a year ago that the next creatively bankrupt let's-turn-some-old-TV-show-into-a-film exercise would be Quantum Leap. I'm just surprised it hadn't happened already.

There have been rumours about this for over a year.Dean Stockwell was said to be attached and Scott Bakula was rumoured for the pilot.The story was said to be about Sam's daughter who follows him as a leaper to try and find her father.
There are some good QL websites and fansites for Dean and Scott which may have some information.
