My 4 year old has recently been diagnosed with type 1 and has started Reception class, she is too young to express that she has low blood sugars, I can recognise her signs, and though I have talked to her teacher/classroom assistant, I don't think she would hug and tell them that she loves them etc whilst experiencing a hypo.
I have told the school that when she goes full time (next week) that I will pick her up at lunch time, to monitor her blood sugar levels.
I wondered if any of you could share any words of wisdom?

Hi, I can't really help on exactly what the mam did to educate others, but to reassure you my 6 yearold daughters friend & classmate has Diabetes and my daughter & others know all about it and the girl leads a normal life e.g mam leaving her at parties with lots of potential wrong foods etc. I'm assuming that the teacher has explained to the kids that they need to tell someone if she suddenly falls ill, but I appreciate that subtle behaviour changes may be hard to guess in a new environment where you haven't assessed her OK self. If I see the girls mam I'll ask what she did, if not I wish you & your daughter well, I'm sure it will all be quite easy and fall into place.
