intruder....householder arrest?

hi there,
this question is a follow up to my 'how far can you go to protect your property?'
police want householder to go into the police station to give a statement, as intruder was stabbed, now stable, can the police bring charges against householder even if intruder doesnt want to,

thanks for responding, i think in our situation we could argue who actually IS the victim!!

would the householder be 'shooting himself in the foot' so to speak, by going to the police station (as they have asked) to give a statement,
surely if they wanted him for any reason they would go to him,
