Also a good film to watch for Brit styles of the 80's (ok, the 80's equivalent of a Chav) is Rita Sue and Bob Too. Don't recommend watching it with any kids around though.

Clockwise (starring John Cleese) - this is set in a school and always reminds me of the way in which we used to very loosely interpret the school uniform, with a flat shoes (loafers), mini skirts, flicked back hair and jumpers hung round our shoulders.
