who was the model in the car advert, I think in the 80's, when she walked out on her boyfriend and threw his ring down the drain but threw the car keys up in the air and kept them then drove off in the car?

I think it was Volkswagen Golf or Polo
Think she is called Paula Hamilton. Going to have something to do with Britian's Next Top Model
Chrissgb
sorry I didn't read your question properly
Chrissgb is correct it is Paula Hamilton .
Trivia fans - did you know that because the Alan Price song used on the ad. was based on a hymn, the ad. was unable to be broadcast on Sundays because it broke some obscure advertigins law regarding use of religious music in ads. being played on Sundays.

And how many protests did it take to get this law enforced, and the ad. removed from Sunday viewing? One. That's right, just one person complained, and the ad. was pulled.
What was the song used in the ad then. remember the ad but not the music....

It was recently voted one of the all time great adverts and there was an interview with Paula Hamilton - still a stunnng looking woman!! She wouldn't get away with the fur coat these days

xx
Almost sure it was 'What A Friend We Have In Jesus' but can't swear to it.

thanks chrissgb you are right, I read a book about her life a few years ago and couldn't remember her name.
Andy - it was indeed ripped off from...I mean, based on What A Friend We Have In Jesus. Ah, aren't euphemisms great? ;-)
The music was 'Changes' by Alan Price. It was originally featured on the soundtrack of Lindsay Anderson's film 'Oh Lucky Man' starring Malcolm McDowell. Yes, it did adapt the melody of a well known hymn which itself, like many hymn tunes, may well have been a traditional air.
