Although MIke Hammer ( Ralph Meeker ) is the "Hero" of "Kiss Me Deadly" he is a thoroughly objectionable , amoral thug. Was he the first "Anti Hero " in films ?

The first anti-hero, as defined by Hollywood was in fact Benjamin in The Graduate - (Dustin Hoffman).

Being that he was the star player in the film - but nonetheless a supposedly nerdy character.
