I am finally getting round to transferring my camcorder tapes (VHS-C) onto video but I cannot seem to get anything other than a very poor quality black & white picture recorded, I have tried it on both tv's and videos and neither work. I am putting the video/audio lead into the front of the video recorder and getting a great picture from the camcorder on the tv but it is just not recording well onto the video. I'm not sure if it's relevant but this camcorder was purchased in the USA. Thanks for any help.

Sound like you need to tune the video to the camcorder signal . If you're getting a good picture on the tv it's there somewhere , it's just finding the signal.

Also sometimes the video and camcorder are on the same wavelength and react with each other causing a bad picture . You may have to adjust the outgoing signal on the video a bit . There is usually a tiny screw at the back of the video. You will have to adjust your video channel on the TV , or create a new one .

If the camcorder is NTSC as opposed to PAL it will not copy onto UK equipment.

Thanks for both of your answers. Emerton . . I had pretty much figured this out after posting whilst trawling the web. I can get the tapes I've got transferred by a company and start shopping for a new camcorder!
