I'm sure you'll find he wasn't the first. By the way, Roger Moore has about as much charisma as a discarded crisp packet on a bleak November day in Dundee.
My favourites are in this order:

1 - Sean Connery

2 - Pierce Brosnan

3 = George Lazenby

3 = Roger Moore

5 - Timothy Dalton

.

I've had to put Lazenby & Moore equal 3rd because OHMSS is one of my favourite of the series, i think it's a shame that George didn't get a chance to do a few more after Sean had done Diamonds. Roger's interpretation of 007 was slightly different to all the others, and not to everyone's taste, but he deserves recognition for providing us with some of the best "Bond moments". (parachuting off a cliff in TSWLM for instance) For me, Sean Connery will always be Bond. No-one can touch him for style, and his delivery of the famous Bond one-liners was immaculate. In fact, he introduced us to them. I think Pierce Brosnan is the best Bond since Sean Connery, for the same reasons as Connery; style and delivery. Timothy Dalton wasn't the best choice to follow the style of Bond that Roger Moore portrayed, and i think this showed in the slightly depressing Licence To Kill. By the way, I didn't bother to include David Niven, who played James Bond in Casino Royale, as this was not a recognised Bond film but a spoof. (or for that matter Woody Allen, who played Jimmy Bond in the same film! Anyone who's seen Casino Royale will know what i'm blabbering on about)

Pierce Brosnan is my favourite Bond because he has the suaveness and ruthlessness of Roger Moore but the thuggishness of Sean Connery. Roger Moore come in at No 2.
Damn you TW you shtole my linesh, you shcoundrel. anyways i almost totally agree with our mexican plant type friends choices....Moore got the best gadgets i think and some of the better stories but he's a pretty wooden actor and Dalton really is just a depressing sod so i agreee there but i really never liked Lazenby at all...I think OHMSS was one of the mosst memorable films in the series and would have been stunning with Connery as Bond......as an afterthough does anyone think Niven would have made a good Bond in the proper films??
Let's not forget Bob Holness! No, I'm not making it up: http://us.imdb.com/Bio?Holness,%20Bob
"The games up Blofeld."

"Can i have a 'P' please Bond?"

  1. Connery
  2. Dalton
  3. Brosnan
The others are not Bond, they're just making the moves. I'm surprised at the comments of the others that Connery wasn't the first Bond. He was cinema's first Bond, and surely no-ones seen the US TV play of Casino Royale that had was the first depiction of Bond?
Without doubt, Roger Moore is and always will be the only James Bond. The best by a country mile. However, I will give Connery credit for a good representation and also salute Lazenby for his decent attempt. Brosnan and Dalton were abortions.
