During the scenes in 'True Lies' when Arnie gets to grips with the harrier and kills the bad guy my wife remarked 'I didn't know fighter planes were so maneouverable'. Has anyone else's partners destroyed a reasonably gripping film with such a dopey and unpatriotic (harriers are of british origin after all). Don't get all bitter with me - my wife and I are over this little hiccup in our relationship !!! ;-) ;-) ;-)

During my viewing of the Exorcist about half way through a mobile went off, a man answered it then run out of the cinema screaming my f***ing shed is on fire. Making the film less scary than it was.
When we watch fantasy or sci-fi films (lord of the rings, star wars etc), my wife constantly remarks "That's not very realistic is it?" - Duuuuh! That's kinda what fantasy is all about - suspension of disbelief.

When we watch thrillers she also wan't to know who the killer is within 5 mins of the start or she loses interest.
I remember going to see 'Jaws' at the cinema when it was released in 1976 (?) and bear in mind, it was state-of-the-art terror in those days, an atmosphere compounded by several hundred people in a packed cinema holding their collective breath and watching as the shark suddenly reared up and almost bit the boat in half. Just that that point, a woman behind me said in a loud stage whisper "It's Jaws!" whereupon my girlfriend and I desisted temorarily from attempting to alleviate the tension by breaking each others' hands, and both turned round with a pantomime-volume "Sssshhh!!!!!" which disturbed trhe surrounding dozen rows. Doh!
My wife ruined The Bridges of Madison County for me by waking me up and making me actually watch the dross!
I have been to tthe cinema twice with one particular friend, who I'll call Viv (as it's her name). (1) Apollo 13 - she came out at the end furious that they'd "re-written history just to make a happy ending". (She thought she remembered the actual events and that they died). (2) Independence Day - after the aliens had started to destroy the earth with giant lazers, Will Smith had flown an alien spacecraft before finding his girlfriend in the middle of the Mojave desert who had bumped into the First Lady while crazed hippies employed by NASA dissected aaliens in a huge underground laboratory etc etc etc, the President of the USA leads the counter-attack in his fighter plane. And only then does Viv snort out loud: "This is getting so implausible!"
Picture this: First date with new hottie. Get taken to the cinema to watch Moulin Rouge. Getting into it, thinking it is great, getting engrossed. In the scene where Nicole Kidman is diagnosed with consumption, date turns to me and says "That's TB, you know". Grr. a) not necessary to know - it is obvious she is dying and b) I knew it already. Completely ruined both the film and thecourtship.
