I'm afraid the force isn't with you Darth. The 'blue peter' is the nickname given to the flag that is hoisted 1 hour before a ships departure. Its a blue square with a white square in the middle. The first episodes of Blue Peter did have film of a sailing ship at the start, but the series was named after the flag, not the ship, so FTVS is perfectly correct in saying Tony Hart designed the ship/badge.
