Now without sounding like a green eyed monster (which I probably am deep down) I do not believe I have ever seen such a plethora of council estate scum in one go.

Bless their little nicotine induced hearts. Barstools.

no amount of money can buy class dotty. And as i write this, it says it all. A nice oak kitchen with Robert Dyas knives. I rest my case!!!!

well the couple who went to Perth bought business class for 9 grand, I'm into that.

And I am fairly certain that the stewardesses were laughing their boobies off when the couple ordered Kebabs and Stella for their meal.

PS Stewardesses was typed with one hand and i believe it is the longest one out there.

Have you ever watched The Jeremy Kyle show?

I'm sure the 'guests' on that show did not even realise there was a queue to hand out brains (hence the reason they weren't in it!) as they were too busy falling from the ugly tree and hitting every branch on the way.

i like it when people who have never had money, come into some! good luck to them. WM don't be such an upper class snob! i don't begrudge anyone! their pound coin is as good as yours! No, i don't live on a council estate, but i have in the past!!!!

WM- I'm sure that they don't give a flying fart of your opinions of their etiquette or class, I was really pleased for them.

And yes, you do sound like you're consumed by the green eyed monster.

Personally I was very pleased for all the people on the programme, most of them have given money to their family or their local community (the scout people) and have bought themselves new houses not a million miles away from where they already lived. People don't usually have a choice where they are brought up (it's where their parents are!!) and it doesn't look as though some of these winners ever had the money before to move out of these areas, until now that is. I'm not jealous of their new found wealth, but I might just buy myself a lucky dip tomorrow and have a little dream of my own......
Guys can't you let us know BEFORE you view this stuff? I am green with envy I missed this insight to the fabric of our society. The post match report is just adding insult to injury. lol.

The fact that they might not have any taste and may be less than endowed in the brain department does not necessarily make them scum w-m. Yes you do get low lifes living in council estates but you also get scum from other walks of life.

What exactly have you got against people who live in council houses. Is it some naive belief that they are all on the dole and sponging from the state. Most are hard working, pay rent and tax just like the rest of us, they just happen to rent propeties from the state (increasingly from housing associations and not councils who have a habit of selling off their housing stock) this is no different to renting privately or do you hold the same view for anybody who doesn't own their own home?

As an ex soldier you've probably served amongst men & women who have come from council estate backgrounds. Like spudqueen says you don't have a choice in where your parents bring you up.

One thing to remember: The people on the documentary chose to have their story publicised through the media.

There may be thousands of people who aren't "council estate scum", who chose to keep their money affairs private.

That Ward-Minter - What a snobby ****** !!

All the best to these lottery winners !!

I suppose Ward-Minter would spend all his winnings on pictures of Maggie Thatcher and a yoghurt knitting kit. Get a life you jealous ****

Question Author

I would love to know what a yoghurt knitting kit is. It is something poor people are entitled to have aswell? Honestly I really do not know.

never be too smug about poor people WM, you just never know what is around the corner in this life! Theres you calling them "poor people" but the very same "poor people" you originally posted about have a damn sight more money than you!!!!!! (i'm guessing you're not a millionaire) Oh well, lifes just not fair is it???????
Question Author

It's all about the concept of "cultural capital" jules. A concept the great unwashed fno doubt fail to understand. Of course I am not a millionaire, I probably will be one day unless Mr Blair continues with his Inheritance tax, but that's a different matter.

I have nothing against council estates per ce. I am sure some of the hobbits have jobs etc it's just the general lack of social awareness and skills the habitants of such places have.

I saw a child once in such an estate, you could have grown potatoes in his ears. And the language from such a young soul!!!!

I am fairly certain, although through liberal tainted sunglasses I see, that if the masses stopped smoking SuperKings and drinking all the time, they may actually do well in life. One day they may be able to set their heights better than two weeks in Butlins per year. Perhaps, just perhaps.
