Who are your favourite/least favourite voices off TV or film? For me, favourite = Ross Kemp, Tony Todd's voice as Candyman, Ray Brooks, Jack Davenport, Fiona Bruce, Mariella Frostrup, Ewan McGregor.

Least fave = Edith Bowman (sounds like its hard work for her to talk), Davina McCall (shrieky), June Sarpong (slurred), Tony Blair (fake sounding), Jade Goody....say no more.

Georgie Thompson the bird off Sky Sports...sexy voice

Salma hayek ...seeeeeexy voice

Kat Slater from East Enders...awful voice

Favourite: Chris Langham, Alan Rickman. Will Young

Least Favourite: Davina McCall, Sarah Cox, Chantelle

I think a deep voice is one of the most important things in making a man attractive. Especially James Alexandrou, Matt Damon, Prince William, Amir Khan, Gabriel Thomson, Prince Harry, Kyal Marsh, Tim Henman and various others.
Well Bernardo, they don't get much deeper than Chris Langham and Alan Rickman!

The guy who plays scott in home and away , sian lloyd (weather lady ) as quite nice voice.

Irritating voices chris evans , chris moyles , andrew castle (gmtv )

I love 'posh' voices, probably because I'm not :-)

I daresay I'll remember lots later but ones that spring to mind include
Nigel Havers
Martin Jarvis
Richard Burton
Joanna Lumley

can't stand to listen to Lucy Kite from Central News or the woman who does the announcements on itv, whoever she is, usually between 7pm & 9ish. It's such a false weird accent that she has.

I'm with Robinia with Richard Burton..I know he's long gone but his voice was to die for.We used to listen to him reading Shakespeare on records in Eng Lit at school. Mesmerising.
I think Bill Nighy has a sexy voice ..bit of a charmer.!

I cannot bear that twittering woman on the weather ...Helen Willets or the person who shall remain nameless (because I don't know his name) who does the intros to programmes on Channel Four with a false Geordie accent.

My favourites include Donald Sinden, Vincent Price, Jack May (who played Nelson Gabriel in The Archers - he qualifies for this list because he also did some film & TV work), Brian Blessed, Brian Sewell and John Le Mesurier.

Voices I hate include Will Self and the absolutely dreadful Johnny Vegas.

I don't generally feel so strongly about female voices although I think that there's something incredibly sexy about Penelope Keith's voice!

Chris

My favourite is the lady who does the sports reporting on Ulster television. I can't remember her name - could some of you Northern Irish (I know you're out there) please tell me her name? She has a soft, melodious voice that can make even golf sound sexy.

I forgot about Anthony Hopkins' wonderful voice.

Funnily enough I can't think of any nice female voices at the moment.

Richard Burton first, second and third!

His narration of Under Milkwood has got to be the greatest recording of the spoken word in the twentieth century!

Absolutely terrible: Any woman who puts on a 'little girl' voice (it ain't sexy), anyone who talks or sings through their nose, James Blunt (just sounds like a complete twit), Tony Blair (I swear he's made up his own accent), that woman who does the M&S Food adverts (makes me want to vomit), Sandy Toksvig (aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!), most of the male actors from EastEnders (why do they have to put on gruff voices?) and whoever it is that does the voice-over for the Vauxhall Masterfit ads on the radio (just SO false and irritating).

Absolutely wonderful: David Gilmour from Pink Floyd (very well spoken, without sounding snobby), Ewan McGregor, Anthony Hopkins, Trevor McDonald and Joanna Lumley.

The late great Freddie Mercury had the most wonderful speaking voice, bless him.

I agree with you there, gessoo. He had a very gentle, kind and soft voice.

I also forgot to mention John Peel. I used to love listening to him on Home Truths (Radio 4) on Saturday mornings. His voice was a real comfort and it was like listening to an old friend talking to me.

Oh the lovely John Peel, Wispy. I do so agree. I cried buckets when he died. I just couldn't believe it. Still can't believe he is gone.

Faves:

P!nk (husky and sexy especially when she laughs)

Mariella Frostrup (again, husky and sexy)

Jill Halfpenny (any North East accent)

Least faves:

Any Welsh accents (sorry to Welsh ABers)

Terry Wogan

Jeremy Kyle (God, that man irritates me!!)

I cannot stand the voiceover for the Pepsi Max ads. I think the actor was in Lock Stock too. Have to mute the tv when it comes on.

Also Keira Knightley talks funny - like its from the back of her mouth if you know what I mean.

I do love John Peel though. And Gregory Peck.

oh yes Anthony Hopkins - I thought of him last night but I had a brain fog moment & couldn't for the life of me remember his name lol!
