I thought your answer was brill eels!
?? Was this comment meant to be tongue in cheek?? I thought Eels reply was very informative
I'd assumed that the 'girl of 13' referred to a daughter. I guess we could possibly be looking at some form of hostage situation though!
Can't see anything wrong with Eels' answer, if a job has a mucky side to it, you're much better off knowing before you start your training, and if there's loads of competition for places you need to know before you apply! (Speaking as someone who works in a different profession with a mucky side to it that's difficult to get into)

walesjackmaa - My cousin was a vet and the information that Eels has given you is perfectly correct. For the life of me I cannot understand your extremely rude and offensive retort.

Basic details: You first need a very high standard of education....then it's 7 years hard slog at university...longer than a GP so commitment is necessary. After your degree you can choose what branch you wish to specialize in... for example Farm Animals or Pets etc.

Your daughter is very young so it's likely she may change her mind in a couple of years, but the key is a very good education excelling at Maths, Science and Biology.

firstly, reply in the reply section, don't start a whole new question just to reply and have a go at someone.

eels obviously made a lot of effort to answer your question thoroughly and your obnoxious response says a lot about you.

secondly being a vet is akin to being a doctor, so of course it going to take a lot of hard work and many of years training.

did you think she could do and nvq or nightschoool or something? vets need medical training, they don't just sit around stroking bunnies!

Eels has said exactly the right thing she will need to work hard and get alot of experience I work with Vets At the vet school in langford Bristol they all have amaizing qulifications and some already have digrees previous to vet training, If she gets some experience and sees the not so nice side of things she may well change her mind, for instance the first time I saw an animal put to sleep when I first started working was very hard for me. but good on her if she doesn't change her mind we need more people willing to look after our little friends, but I went to college with people wanting to work with animals after finishing the course they decided animal work was not for them and now work in offices the level of dedication has to be huge so good luck to her!! :-)
