I should have said...there have been several recent novels about elderly folk esacping and going off on adventures. Some have been brought to tv and film if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks Pasta guess it must have been something I read about.It's a lovely little story so must get to see the film.

A similar recent-ish film is "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry" starring Jim Broadbent. I suppose it's a tried and tested trope.

just watched it, lovely story and well made, probably lost on the young generation, cain and jackson's talent shine, poignant as it was glenda jacksons last film sadly, but what a film to end it on. slight spoiler..but listen to the words on there last scene at the end...pure class.
