And it isn’t even an April fool …

On Friday the Russian Ministry of Foreign affairs published the following:

“Russian foreign policy is peaceful, open, predictable, consistent, & pragmatic & is based on the respect for universally recognized principles & norms of international law”

To which the UK’s FCO responded:
“April Fool’s day is TOMORROW”
Great sense of humour all round.

ichkeria, principles & norms of international law” should read all protestors and all dissenters stay away from tall building, never except free drinks or food, all tv broadcasts are free and fair. remind me of the 70's russia has no food shortages or ques for toilet rolls, the proletariat are happy,
Dunno about the presidency, Russia should consider themselves lucky to still be a member.

Russia was never formally admitted to the UNSC (or indeed the UN).
They snuck in as the ex-Soviet Union. Which wasn’t strictly right.
That there is no mechanism for booting them - or any other permanent member - off the SC is a bit of a disgrace
