2008 - how can they take a sci fi classic, add a squillion times the budget yet create a terrible film? The original 50s classic is just that a classic, perfect in every way yet they tried to remake it and made an abomination. Why? just why? Gawd I so much hope they don't murder "The Forbidden Planet". PS almost forgot it's on C4 now!

IMDB 1951, 7.8, 2008 5.5, enough said!
I've seen it before the re-boot and thought it was quite good and not really a keanu fan Point Break, John Wick and a few others. having seen the original as well it was better IMO.

Don't get me started on King Kong ... that's a true classic
I agree - the original was great - no intentions of watching the remake! Why cant they leave the classics alone?
same with war of the worlds
rewatched the 1951 version - it’s full of little moments. like when Bobby’s mother convinces him he was dreaming, only for Bobby to tell her “the grass was kinda wet”……
Ask the same question to the people who remade The Wicker Man with Nic Cage.

Let's be honest, how many decent remakes of 50s/60s classics are there? Only The Thing springs to mind.
are they remaking Forbidden Planet too? Good grief.
Mozz, yeah, they went through a period of remaking Michael Caine's entire oeuvre... madness.
I agree, jno, that's one step beyond.
Jno, cheers for that. I'd just about managed to forget about the Stallone remake of Get Carter. Now I am fully aware of it's existence again.
I thought The Comic Strips' GLC, which was on the other night, was a great Tinseltown depiction of the golden years of Ken at City Hall.

Robbie Coltrane as Charles Bronson as Ken Livingstone.
Dawn French as Cher as Joan Ruddock.
Peter Richardson as Lee Van Cleef as Tony Benn....
and so on.

Thanks all, a few classics above, I can only assume it's the brainless suits pushing this, surely the directors et al would shy away from such projects...well I guess some need the dosh! anyway don't get me started on "the Italian Job" aaaaarrrrrgggghhhh!
