My all time fav song!!

I believe it was written about Buddy Holly when he died in a plane crash

It is indeed supposedly about the plane crash that claimed the lives of Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens. The song is full of such allusions - the 'jester' who sang for the king and queen is Bob Dylan, for example. The line "while the king was looking down, the jester stole his thorny crown" refers to Elvis Presley (the king) being replaced by Dylan as the voice of America's disaffected youth.

Fantastic Track, but I think 'Vincent' is even better.
I think it was Buddy Holly, i also think this is one of the most annoying and overrated songs ever written.
