Do you ever watch old movies again - or are you a 'watch once and that's that' kind of person?

After many years we revisited 'The Green Mile' last night. I'd forgotten how utterly superb it is.

i do constantly, Casablanca for one, a truly iconic film, though i haven't watched the Green Mile.
Brief Encounter is another old film that i have seen numerous times, sad but lovely story, film.

I won't say 'try it', emmie because I don't know if it would be your thing - but it really is so very, very good.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Completely different to what I expected.
i find many good films are on too late for me, as i have usually crashed out by 9pm.
I love The Green Mile.

I could watch The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady or Gone With The Wind over and over again.
Question Author
Don't you record them, emmie? I record everything to watch in my own time - and zoom through the adverts - although The Green Mile was on Netflix so available at any time.
The green mile has been on my must see list for years such is it’s recommendation, it was years after it’s release I finally watched Shawshank.

Old movies yes all the time.
i don't have sky, netflix, but only terrestrial tv.
Question Author
Do you not have a 'record' facility, emmie?
Question Author
Oh yes. The Shawshank Redemption - another good film that needs revisiting.
i do have a record facility, currently i have completely lost the ability to do it, i need to familarise myself with the remote again and that won't be easy as not very tech minded.
Also Stephen King, I didn’t know that of the green mile just had a look.

Maybe you could google for guidance? That usually turns up all the information you need on that sort of thing. I did it when I had a symbol I didn't recognise come up on the dashboard of my new car. Panic! Turned out to be an ice warning! Derrrr .....
Question Author
Arksided, I didn't realise it was a Stephen King story. I quite like him - but I think he's excelled himself with this one.
Shawshank was excellent too.

Mary Poppins (the Julie Andrews version) is one of my all-time favourites.
Question Author
I liked Mary Poppins too but the sequel with Emily Blunt was rubbish.
If I enjoy a movie, I watch it time and time again, until I feel I have seen it enough ! The Green Mile is a superb film, but so hard to watch in parts, that I don't think I could again now. One film that I personally still haven't tired of is Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner and another is The Colour Purple. Both, in my opinion, excellent.
Question Author
By 'hard' do you mean 'painful', Shirley? I think it's very painful. Had me in tears - again.
I read Stephen Kings 'Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption' some time before the film was ever made. It was from a collection of short stories. I've seen the film so many times.

I've only watched The Green Mile once.

The other films I've watched over and over are:

The Wizard of Oz (favourite childhood film)
Star Wars trilogy
LOTR trilogy
Silence of the Lambs
Gladiator
The Breakfast Club
Elizabeth
Pride and Prejudice
Weird Science (wacky but funny)
Loads more..........
