I've seen the Michael Caine film but have not read the book. itv said they wanted to "flesh it out". I wondered if anyone has read the book and how does it compare?

The film is 1 hour 49 minutes including credits, the TV series is 6 x 1 hour (ITV) episodes - a lot more time to tell the story. So far I am enjoying the TV series. I haven't read the book.

Hate remakes of great films so definitely won't watch it.

I've been recording it and haven't watched any yet.

'Flesh it out' smells like crowbarring things in that shouldn't be there but not doing it would be unacceptable.
