I am sick and tired of seeing these adverts after more and more money and yet far too many are suffering like this poor man and his family. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dad-died-after-brain-cancer-26223791.amp

Just think how many more would suffer Glenn's fate but for the money raised through the adverts you are sick and tired of.

What angers me is the misleading word Beat.We will never beat it we have had some who have been lucky. My family has had too much experience of this dreadful disease for me to believe there mantra.
50% of people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime. I'm guessing that, up until now at least, Grumpy01 has been one of the other 50%.
Some cancers now have a 100% cure rate if they're caught early enough, Grumpy, which is certainly a big improvement on the way things were not so many years ago. So progress is definitely being made.

At one time it would have seemed impossible to rid the world of smallpox but it has now been achieved. Cancer is more difficult to deal with because
(a) it's not really a single disease but a big collection of diseases with similar characteristics ; and
(b) there's usually no obvious external agent, such as a virus or bacterium, involved in its development. (However it is now recognised that some viruses, such as Epstein-Barr, cause cancer).

There are plenty of ongoing trials for the treatments of cancer, which will hopefully lead to things getting better in the future. (I ought to know because I'm taking part in one!)
Two close friends of mine were diagnosed with cancer several years ago. They were both successfully treated and are fit and healthy. I hope more cancer patients are as fortunate but research costs money and more research is needed.
This is one charity we happily donate to every month

I wish you well Buenchicho.
My friend had a double mastectomy about 5 or 6 years ago and she is so fit and healthy. Walks for hours every day.
At one time leukaemia was incurable ,now due to research through our money, it has a good success rate
I for one was extremely grateful for the help and support I was given by Macmillan before and after my diagnosis. I have been contributing to cancer charities since 1975 and am happy to continue to do so.
I have since the early 80s Edmond , the two I support are Cancer UK and Making Winter Warmer ( homeless)
I have lost my husband and my son to cancer , but I think we have to keep trying. otherwise what would happen? I always give money to cancer research.
That must of being awful for you Bobbie, I’m so sorry
So sorry bobbie22, that's heartbreaking. I hope you have managed to find some kind of peace if that is even possible. xx
So sorry to hear that, Bobbie22.

There's always something new that crops up on the news regarding cancer treatment breakthroughs. I'm happy to donate and I've even done a couple of charity walks for Cancer Research.
