I'm suppose to be cutting customers front and back lawn today even though it's raining i'm going to crack on. Issue is they're not home. The front lawn i've done, but should i "break in"(involves reaching over, undoing lock) to the back lawn through the side gate to do the back?

How would you feel about that? I can do the lawn, leave and lock it again then post the invoice but i've not been given specific permission to break in, but i've been ask'd to cut it? My inishative says cut it, but you never know how people will take these things.

That's true, spath. I think you're a fungi anyway, for what it's worth.

Do you have a mobile number for them?

Do they have a dog?

If I had booked the job, I'd be happy you completed the task.

They have no doggo, and yes they have a phone but they're elderly and it's in the house cus i can hear it ringing. I think they're out with their daughter shopping.. I'd hate for her to want me to cut it, and be worried that she forgot to leave the gate open

That being said mamy.. i'm going in! If i leave it now i wont be able to do it until Wednesday

My window cleaner does my rear windows & conservatory if I'm out - he climbs over the 10ft garden wall (he has a ladder, don'tcha know) ... avoiding the security spikes ... I hope.

I'm happy for him to do this - and my neighbours all know who he is so the Police don't get called.
I think it's fine to reach over the gate and unlock it and then re-lock it tbh Spath if they've made arrangements with you. x
Leave a note saying that your were loath to enter the back garden seeing as the gate was locked because there was no implied permission BUT that you'll be quite happy to pop back at a time convenient to them an complete the job.

You always manage to paint a picture Dave, thinking now, my parents window cleaners do the same, but the wall is only 6 ft, and there are no spikes! :D

True Kval, i must remember to re-lock it though :')

That's a good idea JTH, i'll get it done then leave a note or a text message

Don't forget to take the time off their invoice that you have spent on here!
RR's comment made me laugh, which is hard to do on a Monday morning

I don't charge by time i charge by piece. IE bush 5ft by 3ft, lawn: small, medium, large or excessive. I also do gutters if requested and power jet patios / drive ways all price work never hourly price else i'd take 3 days to cut a lawn lol. However, thank you for your kind suggestion, but i can spend my break doing what i like ;)
Even if you were not on your break and charged by the hour you would still be entitled to charge for the time as you are spending it trying to sort it out.

Dont wish to be morbid but are you sure shes out? If you can hear her phone she may well be in there.
Don't treat us like fools. Gardener my back bottom!!!
