can anyone relieve the confusion i have regarding sky sport channels now they have changed. currently i have the full pack at a cost of £27.50. I only want to get football channels and thereby is the confusion.
when i go into my account, the only channel which has the name football attached to it, is the one which does not include premier league. when i look at the channels on my tv, there is indeed a channel named sky sport premier league football. in my account, there is no channel with the name sky sport premier league football, only sky sport. there is no explanation what you actually get with sky sport, the others are self explanatory.
i really don't want to go through the aggravation of ringing sky if anyone out there has the answer.

If you want JUST the Premier League it counts as ONE channel (at £18 per month).
If want all of the football EXCEPT the Premier League that's also ONE channel (again at £18 per month).
If you want all of the football INCLUDING the Premier League you'll have to subscribe to BOTH of the channels above (for £22 per month).

I am probably going to have to call them, as I think I need to totally review my account with them. Have a telephone call package added to landline, which i never use as I use my mobile for making calls.
Having had a further look at their website, which is really not user friendly, I believe that 'sky sports' is premier league football, if you look closely they have a lion logo at the side of it. I mean really, why not just call it premier league football and have done with it.
We will probably end up paying £22 a month for the two footballs. But better than £27.50 for channels we never watch. I am always saying we are going to cancel sky altogether except ..... there are about 4 channels we really like .... only on sky of course.
But we don't go out a great deal, never go to cinema, so all in all i suppose we do get our money's worth

Remember that you can get a selection of Sky channels via Now TV (which is owned by Sky) for a lot less than a Sky subscription. For example. paying £7.99 per month for an Entertainment Pass gets you Sky 1, Sky One, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts, Fox, Comedy Central, MTV, Gold, Viceland, ABC Studios, Challenge, Discovery, Nat Geo Wild, Pick and SyFy. (You also get access to over 300 box sets). There are other passes available for movies, sports and kids' channels.
Remember that you can get a selection of Sky channels via Now TV (which is owned by Sky) for a lot less than a Sky subscription. We have looked at now TV, our grand-daughter has it, and thinks its great. however, she lives in a block of apartments which has an excellent broadband service. we, however, don't have a very good broadband service, its always dropping and when you're watching tv its a total pain. also, they don't have sky living, which i can't live without until grey's anatomy ceases to be!!
but i did ring them and just as well. they negotiated a much better deal in return for signing up for a further 18 months, and off loading kids tv and my free telephone calls which i don't need.
of course, they then wanted to know if they could sell me sky q. i am not at all sure how this works, other than you have several boxes attached wirelessly to other tv's. I would very much like to get rid of the sky cable which is under my carpet because it comes into the house about 12 feet from where we have the tv. i thought i could have the cable coming into the bedroom and have the box attached to the tv we have up there, but apparently you need to have your cable attached box connected to your main tv. can't seem to get any sense from sky as to why. maybe somebody out there who has it can explain.

The situation with cricket is complicated because, while Sky hold the rights to broadcast all home England matches, it's BT Sport who hold the rights to some other games. (So, for example, anyone who wanted to watch the recent Ashes series live from Australia couldn't get it via Sky or with a Now TV Sport Pass; they had to subscribe to BT Sport).
Unlike some other sports, rugby doesn't have its own dedicated channel with Sky Sports. It's shown on Sky Sports Action, along with tennis, boxing, darts and other sports (including things like Gaelic football and netball).
However if GDG wants to watch all of the cricket coverage that's available on Sky, plus all of their rugby coverage, he can either pay £22 per month for the 2-channel deal (as above) or, if he's prepared to sign up to the 18 month contract deal mentioned by Everhelpful (which goes up to £25 per month once the 18 month period has ended), he can get all of the Sky Sports channels for £20 per month. (In both cases that assumes that he's already got the basic Sky Entertainment package because the sports channels are add-on to that).
If he only wants sports channels (i.e. he doesn't want any other Sky channels at all - and you don't either) he might be better off by cancelling Sky and paying £33.99 per month for a Sky Sports Pass with Now TV:

Thank you Buenchico I think we'll stay as we are as I like a lot the other sky channels and we have just 'negotiated' a decent reduction on our package for 12 months by ringing up and saying that we wanted to cancel. If you keep on saying it they eventually pass you to a dept who can do this. Worth giving this a try iloveglee
It is always worth a try with sky to say you are going to cancel. often you can get a decent deal, although it always involves re-contracting with them. i think i have now got to grips with the q thing. they make a 'set up' charge (this is for existing customers, not sure about new), which varies depending on how may extra mini boxes you need.
I was informed by a very helpful person on sky help on twitter, that the main box, that's connected to the dish, can get ultra hd, while the mini boxes can't. of course that depends upon also having an ultra hd tv. there is no doubt that sky's offerings get more complicated by the week and it's worth getting in touch with them. it used to be very aggravating because you were holding on for ages before answering, but they have got to grips with this and now it's just a couple of minutes.
