I would rather have them knock £7 Million off their prices than spend it on adverts. One reason I try to avoid buying things that are advertised or brand names. Good Ale needs no Bush !!

M & S.............?
It's a John Lewis advert
I presume you are talking about the John Lewis advert, it actually cost £1 Million to make. The other £6 Million is promotion and TV costs.
It is a waste of money if you can't even remember which shop it is!
Think of it as John Lewis putting that amount of money into the economy. Most of it will be retained by the businesses and individuals who did the work, some of it will go to the government in taxes. Many people will enjoy the ad. Win, win, win
I enjoyed it, not their best though.

The comments below the YouTube Vid are funny (mostly).
Very nice ad, though I agree it's not their best effort.

I liked that even when the light goes out at the end, Moz farts & the lad's face lights up - "imaginary" friend? Hmmm... :-)

M & S or John Lewis?

Do you believe that companies like JL , M&S , would spend millions on these ads , if they had no evidence that it has a positive impact on the company ?

It was MY opinion baz thats all, but tell me what in fact they were advertising, kids toys, or just Xmas, and this one is not a patch on previous ones IMO.
Some children may want a Moz of their own, and Barnardo's will get a bit of help too.

They are not advertising any particular product , in this ad , rtaxron .

People spend more money at christmas than at any other period during the year , as you know .
The reason for the ad is to remind folk of JL's presence and to get their pressies there .

They will sell lots of lots of the Moz plush toy.
Plus all the other products featured in the Ad, as I said on Rowan's thread on the same topic.

They are approaching it as a business, we aren't.

This debate runs every year.
Indeed mamy
And while your'e online guess what ? - you tend to notice the other products , not featured in the Ad - and guess what before you know it , your basket is 'overflowing '

The whole purpose is to get you into the store - physically or Virtually .

Why do supermarkets sell petrol cheaper and have the stations next to their stores ?
Is anyone influenced by these adverts, do you say Oh, I'll go to M and S because I like the advert?
